Zachary Saloman Pritchard, a candidate in the MFA Studio Art Program at University of the Arts, presents his most recent drawings on paper at the Dick Blick store on Chestnut Street, running the month of October, 2013 with a reception on October 5th. Zachary is showing large, medium and small, pastel colored and charcoal drawings on paper.
Zachary Pritchard holds a Bachelors’ in Fine Arts in Sculpture from Buffalo State College, Buffalo, New York. He is an international artist with work in Latvia and Finland and has shown in such places as Lexington Art League, in Lexington, KY, Franconia Sculpture Park in Franconia, Minnesota, and the Attleboro Arts Museum in Attleboro, MA.
All are invited. Light refreshments will be served.
We are delighted to announce Cynthia Nourse Thompson has been appointed as the Director of the MFAs in BookArts/Printmaking and Studio Arts, effective June 1st 2014. Cynthia will join us from the University of Arkansas where she is currently Curator and Director of Exhibitions as well as an Associate Professor. Prior to this appointment, Cynthia was full professor at Memphis College of Art (MCA) and served as Chair of the Division Of Fine Arts during her final year. For over twelve years, she ran the book arts, letterpress and papermaking areas at MCA, and for seven of those years she additionally served as Curator and Director of visiting artist lectures. As Curator, she created the New Visions Exhibition Series which brought the work of internationally known artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Petah Coyne, Andres Serrano, Jenny Holzer, Oscar Munoz and Gary Schneider to MCA, University of Arkansas and the community at large. Lectures by Juan Sanchez, Ghada Amer, Willie Cole and Polly Apfelbaum took place under her tenure.
With a background in printmaking, book arts and letterpress printing, Cynthia has been active as a curator for several years and was responsible for many exciting, high profile exhibitions at the both the Hyde Gallery at MCA and the Fine Arts Center Gallery at the University of Arkansas. An active grant writer and internationally connected, Cynthia is also keen to promote professional awareness to her students and is continuously seeking internship and exhibition opportunities for them, with excellent results. She has previously taught book arts and printmaking in Florence, Italy at the Santa Reparata International School of Art and in Rome, Italy at the the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Rome Center.
Graduate student Andrew Cameron Zahn has been invited to create an interactive light installation at the designPhiladelphia Popup Place.
